Gjirokastra is an incredibly beautiful and complex town and its unique character has been widely recognized as a treasure worth preserving, designated

as an UNESCO site in 2005. Gjirokastra bazaar restoration project focuses on preservation of historic buildings, but at the same time on the development

of tourism as a vehicle to generate revenue, interest, and to transform the town life. The project will strongly contribute in the revival of Gjirokastra and

its future versus assignation in the world map of cultural touristic destinations in symbiosis with Butrinti UNESCO site (close to Gjirokastra).
